Mobile customers can ask Google Assistant to call a contact name, a number, a business, or emergency services.
Telstra has partnered with Google to allow mobile clients to make voice-activated calls with Telstra to Google Nest phones, formerly Google Home.
As the world’s first mobile carrier to offer outbound calls on Google Nest devices, Telstra said mobile clients can synchronize mobile device contacts by connecting their Telstra numbers to their Google account to exit Google Nest–Mini, Home Max, and Hub–for the next douze months.
To create calls using your voice, clients can ask Google Assistant to call a contact name, a number, a company number or emergency services merely by stating, for example, “Hey Google, Call Mom.” Customers may also use the service to stop a call or to select voicemail banking alternatives.
“The ability to make calls through Google Nest devices means people can stay connected in a number of scenarios, whether they just have their hands full with the kids and pets, their phone is out of reach, or the elderly and disabled where greater accessibility to technology is a requirement,” Telstra connected devices and accessories principal Steve Dance said.
Whilst Google Nest can be installed and calls made at no extra expense to current customer phone schedules, voice-activated calls to Telstra require credit-based Telstra Mobile, powered Google Nest phone linked to an active Wi-Fi network, and a Google Account and Google Home Andros or iOS app.
Eligible mobile clients of Telstra can use Google Voice Match, a service used to define individual voices, to personalize their contact list, to link up to six mobile facilities on Google Nest devices.
Telstra said the service will be expanded to Nest Hub Max at long last.
Currently, the Google Nest Hub Max can allow video and messaging via the Duo. However, you must have a Duo account to access this function.
