Microsoft launches updates each month to support Windows 10 with improvements, bug fixes, and security updates. Sadly, these updates also introduce certain vulnerabilities that could cause Windows to operate properly.
For example, we have seen many reports in recent months of compatibility issues and other issues arising from a Windows 10 update. For example, in the Windows 10 April 2018 Update the quality of web browsers was affected and in Windows 10 October 2018 Update, personal files, documents, and photos of some people are removed.
The quarterly cumulative and safety updates for Windows 10 have also caused problems. For example, in the first week of October 2019, a patch was shipped that disabled Printing Splitter Service, and an update shipped broke the Start menu.
This has prompted many Windows users to postpone or stop installing new updates until a bug is identified.
To do so, you can pause or postpone Windows Updates from Microsoft and this is how:
- Open the Start Menu.
- Tap on Cog Settings or just type’ Settings.’
- Click the Update & Security button.
4. Tap Options Advanced.
5. Under Delay Updates, click on the dropdown box “Pick date” to pick a date to delay updates.
Windows 10 Home with May 2019 Update allows you to interrupt updates for up to 6 days, and if you are using Windows 10 Pro, you can avoid updates for more than 35 days.
Windows 10 pro and business versions also have advanced options for pausing updates, including Group policy.
