ConcernedApe has just unveiled his upcoming game ‘Haunted Chocolatier.’ The storyline revolves around a chocolatier living in a haunted castle while collecting rare ingredients and selling his chocolate products.
Players will be able to explore a town, castle and mountains for ingredients or combat against enemies in combat – the game will even include boss fights – something missing in Stardew Valley.
Is there a Haunted Chocolatier release date?
Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley and other related games, is ready to unveil the next one in his pipeline: Haunted Chocolatier is a town game in which players become chocolatiers working inside an haunted castle, featuring systems for giving gifts, getting acquainted with characters, and further developing relationships.
Haunted Chocolatier appears to offer more action-RPG elements than Stardew Valley. As shown by its trailer, players venture out into the world to gather ingredients, fight monsters and run their chocolate shop.
This title shares similar art style as Stardew Valley, yet is far more ambitious in scope and ambition. This may explain its delayed launch date; or it could mean it will be more polished and complete than SV. Regardless, it’s heartening that Barone is taking an unique approach when developing this game and stands out from its peers by producing something memorable and different from all others in the market.
Haunted Chocolatier development is on-pause
While fans were anticipating Haunted Chocolatier’s release date as soon as possible, development appears to have been postponed indefinitely. ConcernedApe announced via tweet that Stardew Valley 1.6 update will take priority over Haunted Chocolatier for now.
Haunted Chocolatier developer Epic Games unveiled more gameplay from Haunted Chocolatier in a teaser trailer, showing player characters exploring a castle and gathering ingredients to craft chocolate treats, fighting monsters in the wild, and managing a chocolate shop.
Stardew Valley stands in stark contrast to this new trailer’s gameplay, which places more of an emphasis on action role-playing than its predecessor. Players will use melee weapons and bow and arrows to fight monsters; additionally they can explore the world in search of rare ingredients found within its wilderness regions. Combat will be more fast-paced with full blocking systems in place (with stuns linked with successfully blocking enemies) as well as an array of weaponry available.
So what kind of game is Haunted Chocolatier?
After devoting 10 years to Stardew Valley, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone is hard at work on another cult-favorite farming and lifestyle sim. Haunted Chocolatier looks to fulfill many of the same desires that made its predecessor such a hit. According to its launch trailer, this new title should fulfill many of the same desires.
Teaser trailer for “Chocolate Shop: the Videogame,” showing player character exploring fantasy world while managing a chocolate shop with ghost employees in the shape of chocolate bonbons, while collecting ingredients to craft various treats while engaging in Zelda-style combat battles.
Stardew Valley fans who adore Grandpa may be disappointed to hear that Haunted Chocolatier won’t feature multiplayer co-op gameplay, according to its FAQ on Haunted Chocolatier’s website. According to that FAQ, Haunted Chocolatier will only support singleplayer with modder support potentially adding multiplayer features later. Furthermore, due to priority given to Stardew Valley 1.6 update we won’t know the release date until then.
Is Haunted Chocolatier co-op?
Eric Barone, creator of Stardew Valley, recently unveiled his new RPG simulation game Haunted Chocolatier. Eric expects this one to step out from its predecessor’s shadow and prove a success story of its own.
Haunted Chocolatier may bring to mind Stardew Valley, but Barone is trying something different this time. In his blog post, he outlined that Haunted Chocolatier will focus more on combat than farming aspects; players will also use shields to block attacks and stun enemies.
Haunted Chocolatier will not feature multiplayer. According to Barone in his FAQs, adding multiplayer would detract from creating an experience more focused around building chocolate empire. He believes removing multiplayer will allow them to focus solely on that task.
Will Haunted Chocolatier have mods?
Haunted Chocolatier will feature many of the same features that fans love about Stardew Valley, but Barone has also hinted at some aspects that will set it apart – for instance, combat will take a greater priority, with shields available to block and stun enemies and multiple off-hand items to choose from to complement different play styles.
Haunted Chocolatier will likely stand out from Stardew Valley by featuring boss fights. Barone has already revealed that the game will offer several of these battles to keep players interested and engaged with its world.
Haunted Chocolatier will surely be an exciting video game, yet fans are eager to see its debut. Luckily, Edu Anttunes’ Stardew Valley mod adds cocoa trees and four recipes as a preview of what to expect in Haunted Chocolatier.
Final thoughts
Eric Barone has spent 10 years developing Stardew Valley, and now it’s time for his next project: Haunted Chocolatier. Players will explore a haunted castle to gather rare ingredients before creating chocolate products in their very own shop.
Haunted Chocolatier differs significantly from Stardew Valley by featuring more of a shop simulation with gathering and crafting as its focus, as well as an active combat system where protagonist can use shields or swords against foes.
Fans of multiplayer co-op may be dismayed to learn that Haunted Chocolatier is solely designed as a singleplayer experience; although, as with Stardew Valley, modders may add multiplayer elements themselves.
