SK Telecom, Samsung Electronics, and Cisco work together to develop and launch smart office services based on 5G.

The companies have announced that SK Telecom, Samsung Electronics, and Cisco are working together to develop and initiate 5G-based smart offices.

The three companies are combining their products and services as packages for customers and developing brand new smart office services using 5G wireless networks and mobility.

SK Telecom will deliver its 5G infrastructure and Samsung will deliver its company phones, Knox security solution and Samsung Dex. Cisco will offer its security and network solutions.

The first package will be launched in the second half of the year.

SK Telecom stated that smart offices and smart factory services will be key services for companies in the 5G era to increase productivity and efficiency.

The telco also claimed that every feature previously required for a desktop PC or LAN line would go away if 5G smart offices were introduced. Mobile virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) will replace desktop PCs, it adds, allowing customers to connect their smartphones to dock stations so that they can continue their work on monitoring systems.

Earlier this week, Samsung has launched designated regions for Samsung DeX, the company’s hot desk solution, in some of its South Korean WeWork offices.
