Oculus Quest 2 is an immersive VR headset, perfect for standalone gaming experiences. Unfortunately, it is incompatible with PlayStation systems.
However, there are workarounds you can try. One such way involves using PS Remote Play to stream games from your PlayStation to Oculus Quest.
Connecting Your Oculus Quest 2 To Your Ps4
As the Quest 2 is an independent headset, Sony’s PlayStation system can’t connect directly with it; however, there are workarounds that enable you to enjoy PS4 and PS5 games on it. These require using a computer with Windows OS on which Sidequest software has been downloaded; once installed you can connect wirelessly using a code from PlayStation.
The Quest 2 virtual reality headset is an independent virtual reality system that doesn’t rely on smartphones or gaming consoles for use; however, for optimal results it is advised that an upper-tier gaming desktop PC be used.
Others, however, have reported being delighted with the performance of the Quest 2 and have reported no lag issues when playing games such as God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn. Furthermore, some users claim it outshone PS5’s standard VR experience due to more detailed graphics and longer battery life; making the Quest 2 an ideal option for gamers seeking an immersive VR gaming experience.
Setting Up Your Ps4
Oculus Quest 2 is an incredible virtual reality headset for gaming and watching videos alike, featuring many improvements over its predecessor – from improved controller, faster loading times and hand tracking that works more reliably to its new home menu being displayed as an overlay in the corner of your screen rather than taking you out of your game altogether.
Sidequest provides an easy solution for connecting your PS4 to Oculus Quest 2, providing full compatibility. However, its features may limit how easily and seamlessly they work on this VR device.
There are ways of connecting a Quest 2 to a PlayStation, but they are not recommended by Sony. Such methods often increase computer processing requirements, increase latency levels and produce lower quality videos – plus PlayStation is designed specifically to interact with its own headset rather than third-party ones.
Using PS Remote Play
Oculus Quest 2 is one of the most sought-after VR headsets on the market, yet does not support PlayStation games. Although there are workarounds that allow you to access PS4 and PS5 titles with your Quest headset, they are neither practical nor worth your while – you could always connect it via PC and play an array of PC titles (including VR titles ).
Connecting an Oculus Quest to your PS4 involves two different approaches. The easiest is Sidequest, a straightforward sideload program. Alternatively, using a computer to mirror PS4 Remote Play screen onto Oculus Quest may work too; both methods have benefits and drawbacks; but both should prove more reliable than wireless connections.
Chiaki, which is free and open source software, may also be an option for playing PlayStation games on Oculus Quest; however, reports of issues related to lag have surfaced with this program.
Sideloading PS Remote Play
While there is no official method to link a Quest 2 with PS4, some gamers have discovered workarounds to do just that. Solutions such as Sidequest, the Chiaki app or Virtual Desktop have proven useful for reducing latency and providing an enhanced gaming experience.
One of the more popular methods involves using PS Remote Play to stream PlayStation games from a PC to the Quest 2. An Android emulator allows the headset to access PS4 content through either wired or wireless connections.
This method is more reliable than streaming from a smartphone, since the Quest 2 displays graphics at a higher resolution. However, please be aware that using Facebook requires children under thirteen to create accounts – an action not advised for children who may become emotionally disturbed if this approach is utilized; additionally, Gamesharing or any other features exclusive to PlayStation consoles cannot be supported through Quest 2.
